The latest RICS report provides an outline on the points that could potentially have a significant impact on the surveying, built related and natural environment professions. The report makes a case for concerned action based on the wide range of insight gained from RICS strategic foresight work.
Among the report highlights can be included the cases where real estate professionals could stand out by taking action in the years to come. Such actions do not apply only to surveying but also to architecture, engineering, financial services and technology.
According to Daniel Cook, Director of Strategy and Planning RICS, there are six areas where actions must be taken in the following years, in order to adopt to the new social, economic and business environments. The aforementioned areas are translated to the following six actions, which will drive the plans and strategic direction of organisations and professional bodies across the build and environment sector.
- Winning the war for talent - Support employers in attracting and retaing a more diverse talent pool to run the businesses of the future.
- Having ethics at the heart of what we do - Promote education and standards that foster ethical behaviour within our sector.
- Embracing technology and data - Develop stategic alliances with companies and organisations at the forefront of technological innovation, and advise professionals on how to intergrate into and benefit from these new ways of working.
- Creating successful and sustainable cities - Improve city management by using professional advice to help leverage finance for development and incorporate all aspects of sustainability into land use planning and procurement practices.
- Take advantage of new opportunities - Create a more dynamic profession that can respond to changes in the market and the wider society it operates in.
- Developing stronger leadership - Build a credible voice with government for the land and built environment sector.
